According to the company, the Seoul Metropolitan Police’s cybercrime unit apprehended three suspects, including one airline crew member, earlier this year for violating the Personal Information Protection Act.

HYBE confirmed BTS wasn’t the only target, saying that other HYBE artists and idols from different agencies were also affected. In one case, a fan allegedly bought a seat next to an idol group member using the leaked info and stalked them during the flight. Another fan reportedly attempted physical contact while onboard.

HYBE emphasized the company has worked closely with police for years and created a dedicated task force in September 2023 to tackle the ongoing issue of privacy breaches. The team has been actively collecting evidence from social media and providing it to law enforcement.
