An OG K-Pop idol has suddenly attracted attention by mentioning marriage, while embroiled in controversy over his opinion on the legalization of prostitution.

On the 25th, Shinhwa’s Kim Dongwan posted a short message saying, “When you meet someone who lets you be yourself, suddenly you want to get married.”
As Kim Dongwan unexpectedly brought up the word marriage, one fan asked, “Are you getting married?” and Kim Dongwan replied with, “Getting married?” raising curiosity.
Kim Dongwan also liked comments such as “You met a special person. Don’t let them go,” “Oh, you met someone?” “A relationship where you accept each other as you are and find peace being yourself—I hope you find that kind of connection,” “I’ll send couple pajamas as a gift,” and “Hyung, shall I sing at your wedding?”
Surprised by his mention of marriage, other netizens commented, “Who is it? Please live alone forever, oppa,” “Be careful at that time, hyung,” “Oh?? Are you finally going for it?” Kim Dongwan liked these comments as well.
Meanwhile, Kim Dong Wan recently posted on his personal social media account, “Trying to eliminate entertainment districts has led to the entire country becoming an entertainment district. Seeing entertainment districts in front of churches, schools, and police stations only raises questions,” and strongly advocated for the legalization of prostitution, saying, “We need to acknowledge and manage it. In a reality where single-person households are increasing, we can’t just ignore it with a ‘cover it up and forget’ logic.”
Popular Idol’s Reason For Wanting To Legalize Prostitution Triggers Massive Backlash
In response, a netizen said, “I understand collecting taxes, but I’m not sure if legalization is right,” and Kim Dongwan replied, “There are people who can’t do it without paying. It’s also about disease control,” sparking controversy. When another netizen explained the introduction of the public prostitution system at length, Kim Dongwan replied, “Can you make it a bit shorter? About four lines?” drawing criticism for his careless and insensitive attitude.
After a wave of criticism, Kim Dongwan changed his SNS account to private and suddenly referenced actress Yoon Yeo Jung’s remark: “‘No matter who you meet, go with someone classy’ — a senior’s words. We often want to meet classy people but don’t ask ourselves if we are worthy. Classy people don’t send invitations; they just recognize those on the same wavelength. So, who am I someone who can hang out with right now?” He posted this new message, which some criticized as an ill-fitting and nonsensical justification.
