ALLDAY PROJECT‘s Annie was recently announced as the new MC for 2025’s Gayo Dajeon. She will take the place of Girls’ Generation‘s YoonA, who has been MC-ing the end-year special show for 10 years now. She will be hosting the festival alongside SHINee‘s Minho.
Although it is a huge honor, some international netizens have been calling the decision out for alleged nepotism. They claim that she not only lacks experience, but the position is one of high honor, normally given to seniors in the industry.
she’s never mc’d a single thing in her life and somehow just teleported straight to hosting a major year-end stage. like???
make it make sense outside of it being pure nepotism lmao https://t.co/wIEK6f1tHE

Many feel that the shoes are too big to fill for a rookie.
No hate to Annie, but if you want to find someone who can succeed the 10th year legacy by Im Yoona, at least choose someone who is atleast 2-3 years in the industry who already give some impact who really deserve it 😭. This is pure nepotism 😤

Netizens are disgruntled at the alleged power play at work.
Literally always proving that her family runs Korea and nothing ADP achieves will ever be rightfully earned cause her 100% bought it https://t.co/A0u3g1MK7q

This comes alongside previous doubts raised when it was announced that MAMA’s Best New Artist category for 2025 would not be separated into female or male artist categories as it always has been. Fans have speculated that this was due to ALLDAY PROJECT’s existence as a mixed gender group.

Despite nepotism accusations, Annie’s talent and dedication towards her job continues to shine. Fans continue to defend her, claiming that she was simply doing “idol things” in her own right.
the way y'all always dismiss annie's achievement as pure nepotism is rooted in misogyny because ik y'all won't be saying that about a man but i just can't prove it pic.twitter.com/WIBmqbFNtc
