BLACKPINK Lisa’s “Dream” MV’s Twist Ending Solidifies Theories On Her Ex-Boyfriend’s Identity

BLACKPINK Lisa‘s “Dream” MV was recently released and left many viewers shaken by its storyline and ending.

Lisa showed her acting skills alongside Sakaguchi Kentaro, who played her on-screen partner. Fans anticipated the break-up song to be sad, but the surprising ending left many in tears.

In the video, after seeing what appears to be the couple in the present time and flashbacks, it is revealed that Sakaguchi’s character passed away. Lisa ends the video holding an urn while at a lake, seemingly to spread his ashes.

This ending has added to the speculation of who Lisa’s mysterious ex is, with many seeing it as a big hint. Death can represent many things other than just dying; it can be a metaphor for the end of something that could never come back. It can also be applied to abstract and intangible concepts like relationships.

In the case of “Dream,” many have seen the ending — Lisa holding on to what remains of her relationship after the person has moved on permanently — and connected it to former YG rapper, One (also known as Jaewon).  One debuted in 2017 and ultimately signed with YG Entertainment in what seemed to be the start of a long career.

However, in 2019, the artist released his last piece of music before slowly vanishing.

There have been a few updates in the years since, but he has essentially disappeared.

Many have connected the death of Lisa’s lover and One’s sudden disappearance, seeing the MV’s ending as symbolically representing it.

I think its him…he nearly disappeared after everything that happened and maybe this is what lisa was referring to? He was dead means he disappeared from her life..it HAS to be jaewonpic.twitter.com/XNfhRasneA

he honestly disappeared from everyone so it’s understandable how she could’ve grieved him, IF it is true.

plus YG apparently took down any videos of them in 2019 https://t.co/wMfx1jpk0n

And after this MV, I’m more and more certain that Dream was written for Jaewon. The metaphor of death represents his disappearance without any explanation and the fact that there has been no news from him since.#LISAxDREAM #LISAxAlterEgo #Lisa pic.twitter.com/nWkNYkxBrC
