After two decades, twelve albums, and countless unforgettable stages, Super Junior proves they’re not just surviving—they’re thriving.

On July 8, the group marks a monumental milestone with the release of their 12th full-length album, Super Junior25 (Super Junior I.O). More than just another comeback, this album commemorates their 20th debut anniversary, and with its release, the group has one clear goal: to become No. 1 singers once again.

Featuring nine genre-spanning tracks and a title song bursting with rhythm and resolve, Super Junior25 is both a nostalgic tribute and a forward-facing statement.

In a feature interview brimming with memories, wit, and unwavering brotherhood, the members reflect on their journey, the album’s deeper meaning, and the road still ahead.

Q1. It’s your 12th full-length album—and your 20th year as a group. How does that feel?

Leeteuk: It’s overwhelming. We’ve been together for 20 years, and I still can’t believe it sometimes. This album feels like a celebration of everything we’ve built together, and I hope it’s the beginning of even greater things to come.

Yesung: I still remember our rookie days so clearly—it feels surreal that we’re here, celebrating two decades. Time passed so quickly, but I’m proud of what we’ve accomplished.

Siwon: These 20 years were priceless. I’m grateful for the journey, and I think this album carries even more meaning because it includes all the people who have walked with us—our members, staff, and ELF.

Ryeowook: I’m thankful beyond words. Being able to celebrate such a milestone together makes me so happy. Let’s keep walking this road side by side.

Q2. The album title is symbolic—Super Junior25 evolved from Super Junior05. What’s changed, and what’s stayed the same?

Heechul: Visually? I’ve changed the most! (Laughs) I went on a serious diet and changed my eating habits to get ready for this comeback. But Leeteuk and Eunhyuk? They’re aging backwards.

Yesung: Maybe our mindset hasn’t changed. We still feel like twenty-somethings chasing dreams.

Donghae: What’s changed is how deeply we care about preserving Super Junior as a team. We’ve become more protective and united. What hasn’t changed is our bond and love for ELF—that’s eternal.

Ryeowook: Our chemistry hasn’t changed at all. We still bounce off each other effortlessly. Give us a camera and no script—we’ll make content magic.

Q3. You’ve got a discography filled with hits. What made Express Mode stand out as the title track?

Yesung: We had several strong contenders, but Express Mode had this undeniable “title track” vibe. It felt right from the start.

Shindong: We always aim to try something fresh. With Express Mode, the decision came instantly—it captured our energy and identity perfectly.

Eunhyuk: The song’s message resonated—it reflects our mindset as a group that keeps pushing forward. It’s perfect for our 20th anniversary: never settling, always moving.

Ryeowook: Honestly, I first liked the demo of Haircut, but Express Mode grew on me during recording. It encapsulates Super Junior’s spirit and lets us showcase a dynamic performance.

Q4. What gets you moving in your own personal ‘Express Mode’ lately?

Heechul: My dog Kibok! (Laughs) He’s so energetic I’m always chasing him around. He’s basically my cardio coach.

Yesung: The thought of performing for ELF makes my heart race. I want to meet them more and give them all of me on stage.

Ryeowook: I’ve been focusing on vocal training—I want to sing songs that touch people and prepare for a concert worthy of ELF.

Kyuhyun: These days, 33 Expedition—a game I’ve recently revisited. After work, it’s my version of escape mode.

Q5. The Express Mode choreo is intense. How was the process behind it?

Yesung: I had some struggles physically due to back issues, but I powered through. I really loved the choreography, and that helped.

Shindong: I won’t sugarcoat it—it was tough! It felt like a marathon. But ELF gives me a mysterious energy boost when I hit the stage.

Eunhyuk: We worked hard but had a lot of laughs. We always maintain a fun atmosphere, which helps a lot with the grind.

Ryeowook: The choreography didn’t take long to memorize, but the best part was being in the practice room with the members, sharing that effort.

Q6. If you were to give out ‘Super Awards’ to each other like the album concept suggests?

Yesung: I’d give “Thank you for 20 years” and “Let’s keep going strong” to every member.

Shindong: For Eunhyuk, the “One Body Wasn’t Enough” award—he’s choreographing, directing, filming. He’s everywhere. For Heechul-hyung, “Talks a Lot, But Acts a Lot Too.” He quietly supports us all behind the scenes. And the others? “Still So Handsome” award. Because it’s true.

Ryeowook: Simple and heartfelt: “You Guys Are the Best” award.

Q7. Most unforgettable moment over the past 20 years?

Siwon: Our debut stage—it’s etched in my memory. That adrenaline rush never fades.

Ryeowook: Debuting felt like floating in space. I remember singing our debut song Twins with all my heart—even though my mic wasn’t on! (Laughs)

Kyuhyun: The Super Show tours left the deepest mark. My memories blur together, but the emotions of those performances are unforgettable.

Q8. Super Show 10 is on the way—with your 200th concert soon. Any new records you hope to set?

Leeteuk: I want to keep climbing. Let’s hit 300, then 400. And I want Super Show to evolve into something even more diverse and global.

Yesung: We’re not chasing numbers, but wow—200 already? That’s something to be proud of.

Donghae: Records are cool, but for me, finishing our journey together is more meaningful.

Ryeowook: I’d love to reach 300. Every show is another precious moment with the members and ELF.

Kyuhyun: My dream? To go where we’ve never been and make ELF feel seen all over the world.

Q9. Super Junior has had many titles over the years. Which is your favorite?

Yesung: “The Unchanging Super Junior”—a timeless one.

Eunhyuk: I get embarrassed by over-the-top labels. I think it’s best when people simply say, “Super Junior—a group that needs no modifiers.”

Ryeowook: I’ve always loved “Hallyu Gwanggaeto the Great.” It stuck with me since I was young—it just feels grand.

Q10. What do you want to achieve with Super Junior25?

Heechul: Honestly, at this point in our lives, my biggest wish is that we stay healthy, happy, and enjoy our promotions. Love you, my members!

Yesung: I want to finish this era joyfully. That’s the goal—to end with good energy.

Siwon: This isn’t just an album—it’s a message. I want it to show the next generation that if you keep walking sincerely and consistently, good things come. I hope our story becomes someone’s spark.

Ryeowook: I want this album to be our most loved by ELF. I want them to say, “As expected from Super Junior.” And yes, I want to see us take that No. 1 spot again.

Q11. Lastly, a message to ELF around the world?

Leeteuk: To our ELFs—you’ve always been our light and strength. Now it’s our turn to give that love back. We’ll work hard for you. Thank you and I love you!

Yesung: You’re the reason we’re here. Forever grateful. Forever yours.

Donghae: Without ELF, we’re like flowers without sunlight or water. You help us bloom every day. Thank you, always. I love you!

Ryeowook: You’ve been with us through every laugh and tear. You’re the greatest gift of my life. Thank you for this 20th anniversary—and for every moment to come. Let’s walk together forever. I love you!
