When an exciting, new show is announced, K-Drama fans eagerly add it to their watch lists. Unfortunately, some highly anticipated new series (and older ones) fell flat for viewers in August 2025. Here are 5 K-Dramas that viewers couldn’t finish watching.

1. Beyond the Bar

Beyond the Bar premiered on August 2 on JTBC, with Netflix releasing two episodes weekly. This legal-themed show follows a rookie lawyer and her cold, demanding mentor.

3. Welcome to Samdal-ri

Welcome to Samdal-ri is a 2023-2024 JTBC series that streamed on Netflix. It tells the story of two childhood friends from Jeju: one became a weather forecaster after his mother drowned due to an erroneous weather report, and the other is chasing her dream of becoming a fashion photographer. After being driven apart in their youth, they reunite as adults.

One viewer who stopped watching the series felt that the female lead’s trauma was “dragged out,” which created pacing issues. They also weren’t loving the supporting characters.

5. Good Boy

Park Bo Gum and Kim So Hyun star in JTBC’s Good Boy, a K-Drama about former Olympians who used their athletic talents to fight crime as special police officers. The “Olympic Avengers” combined their different background and skills to bring violent offenders to justice.

Good Boy might be one of the most divisive K-Dramas of 2025 so far. Some viewers were turned off by the extremely violent plot, especially the treatment of Park Bo Gum’s character. Others felt the show was just too outlandish.
