Korean hip-hop icon Zico and Japanese star Lilas (Yoasobi Ikura) are joining forces for a groundbreaking new single.
On December 12, Zico announced via his official social media channels that the digital single, titled “DUET,” will be released at midnight on December 19. Lilas quickly amplified the excitement by posting a photo of himself holding Zico’s “duet invitation,” captioned playfully: “I’d love to, Let’s DUET!”
Hints of the collaboration had been circulating for weeks. Zico previously shared on YouTube that he had written a song he loved but struggled to find the right partner for. Soon after, a wave of curiosity spread as numerous celebrities—including Go Kyung-pyo, LE SSERAFIM, BOYNEXTDOOR’s Sungho, BE’O, IVE’s Lay, Uhm Ji-yoon, ENHYPEN, Lee Eun-ji, izna, Colde, Han Roro, and 10CM—posted photos of themselves holding Zico’s “LET’S DUET” invitations. The mystery was finally solved when Lilas was revealed as the chosen collaborator, sparking enthusiastic reactions from fans.
The pairing is generating buzz not only for its star power but also for its cross-genre appeal. Zico, a defining figure in Korean hip-hop, and Lilas, a symbol of Japanese band music, bring together distinct musical traditions. A teaser video uploaded by Zico showcased part of the track’s upbeat, energetic melody, heightening anticipation for the release.
Zico has long been known for his adventurous collaborations, recently teaming up with Japanese artist m-flo on “EKO EKO” and BLACKPINK’s Jennie on “SPOT!” His global activities continue into 2026, with a solo concert titled “ZICO LIVE: TOKYO DRIVE” scheduled for February 7 at Keio Arena Tokyo. The show marks his first solo performance in Japan in eight years, promising a setlist of fan favorites alongside his latest work.
