A recent online discussion about the lack of Black characters in the hit animated movie KPop Demon Hunters has become a trending topic in Korea.

The debate started after a viewer on Threads questioned why the film didn’t include more racial diversity, leading to a viral post on TheQoo that has already racked up over 86,000 views and hundreds of comments.

In the Threads post, the viewer wrote, “I love KPop Demon Hunters, but are there no Black or Brown people in Korea? Every person in the movie looks like they have the same skin tone! Just wondering!”

The post quickly spread across Korean communities, sparking a wave of reactions from netizens who felt the criticism was misplaced.

- “It’s already hard to find non-Asian races in K-Pop aside from a few specific Asian countries.”
- “Why does it have to include Black people?”
- “It’s like going to someone else’s house and asking where your family is.”
- “There aren’t even white characters in KPop Demon Hunters, lol.”
- “They complain about everything.”
- “That’s just what K-Pop is.”
While some understood the original poster’s curiosity, most Koreans saw the criticism as unnecessary.
