It’s not a HUNTR/X member…

This Halloween, a surprising character from Netflix’s animated hit KPop Demon Hunters is stealing the spotlight.

While fans expected children to dress up as main characters like Rumi, Zoey, Mira from HUNTR/X — or maybe even one of the Saja Boys members — it’s actually Duffy the tiger who has captured attention worldwide.

Duffy isn’t one of the lead performers. Still, the character plays an important role in the story as a messenger for the Saja Boys’ leader, Jinu, often bridging interactions between him and Rumi.

What sets Duffy apart is his design, which draws from traditional Korean art and mythology. The Minhwa folk painting style inspires the character and it also features the protective Hojakdo motif, often depicted alongside the magpie character Sussie.

The combination of Duffy’s striking visual design and playful presence has sparked a trend, especially overseas. Social media posts show creative adaptations of the character, with fans even turning pumpkins into Duffy-themed decorations.
I expected K-pop Demon Hunters to be a big hit this Halloween in the U.S., but I only thought about costumes… I never imagined pumpkins would be turned into Duffy. Now I really want to make one myself.

Korean netizens instantly reacted to the trend, sharing both laughter at the unexpected trend and praise for others’ creativity.

- “For real, they’re making all of them Duffy with that blue pumpkin basket lol.”
- “I want to see stuff like this in Korea on Halloween again lol.”
- “At this point, they’re enjoying Korean culture even more than Korea itself lol.”
- “The exorcisms will be top-notch lol.”
- “This is like a master craftsmanship contest.”
- “Try decorating it in Hangul, lol, it would be even cooler.”
As Halloween approaches, it looks like Duffy will be one of the season’s most unexpected stars.
