TWICE’s Sana once plotted to break out of prison, but this one company trick led to her K-pop debut

TWICE member Sana was a guest on SBS variety show Whenever Possible recently, along with fellow member Jihyo. During the episode she reveals how when she was a trainee, she plotted an escape plan that reads like a prison escape or horror film.

Recounting her homesickness and her harsh trainee life, she says, “When I was young, I once thought about sneaking back home in the middle of the night. I even thought about how I could take my suitcase and leave without making a sound.”

Why didn’t she do it? Some heartwarming last-minute realization about dreams, after which the protag monologues about determination? Well, not exactly, “My passport was at the company. To escape, I would have had to break into the company, which wasn’t exactly realistic.” Ah, she realized she was a hostage.

Sana also added that she plotted on all this along with Momo, saying, “At that time, I had planned to go back with Momo,” jokingly (?) adding, “TWICE could have ended up as seven members instead of nine.”

Oh the silly hijinks like K-pop trainee life consistently being described over and over again across multiple generations and varying company sizes like a prison or a kidnapping. How heartwarming.
