TWICE‘s change in outfits for a recent performance has sparked an online debate.
TWICE | JYP EntertainmentTWICE are currently on the part 1 leg of their This Is For world tour, which began in Korea on July 19, and consists of dates in Asia and Oceania.

In September, it was announced that the group would visit Malaysia during this leg of the tour and perform on October 25 in Kuala Lumpur at the National Hockey Stadium. This marked the group’s first concert performance in the country since 2019, a long awaited return.
The concert proceeded as usual, but some fans noticed a change in the group’s “cow-print” outfits for a portion of the show.

During the show, it appeared the group’s outfits had been altered to show less skin, specifically with skin tone colored pieces covering the members cleavage and stomaches, where their outfits before did not.

Malaysia has a large population of Muslims in the country, with Islam being the official state religion of the country, though non-Malay citizens are allowed to practice different faiths.
As a result, some attributed the change in TWICE’s outfits to being a show of respect.

However, some felt that the change was unnecessary to make, criticizing the choice to do so.

On the other hand, many felt that the group’s actions were done to be respectful, and that some criticism leaned more into Islamophobia.
Wth these uneducated islamophobic people??? Have yall never learn about respect and tolerance?? Malaysia is Muslim majority country so the fact they are respecting people there are so sweet and wholesome. They arent forcing them to wear this or that. https://t.co/JIJC0I9RbT

it's the way some are pressed bc the girls had to 'cover up' and then others don't even realise what about the fits have changed (they're wearing skin coloured inner tops) so what exactly are the lot of you pressed about if it not simply bc you're islamophobic? pray tell https://t.co/S80AsMHPyh
