Recently, SEVENTEEN Vernon‘s mother sparked a heated discussion after a post made its way to X (formerly Twitter).
SEVENTEEN’s Verno | PledisIn a long post about SEVENTEEN, HYBE, and BTS, Vernon’s mother admits that BTS “built the company that was able to buy Pledis [SEVENTEEN’s label]” and claims that HYBE used SEVENTEEN to “offset the inevitable income loss that would occur” once BTS members started their military enlistment.
HYBE Star’s Parent Accused Of Slamming BTS With “Paved The Way” Comment
Along with the post mentioned above, other comments made by his mother also surfaced including an alleged support of US President Donald Trump. This led to the discovery of an account believed to be hers on X and posts that continued to spark outrage.
The account @MelodyVernonK is believed to belong to the idol’s mother, due to the tweets made on it, including one that mentions the name found on her Facebook account.
My FB (OdyVo) is a mix of my advocacy for SEVENTEEN and criticism of MSM where I curate alternate sources of information. I don’t support any politician and haven’t voted since Obama in 2008 because I realized we were being played by the establishment

In addition to these tweets, many of her most recent ones have gained attention, including one made in response to a post defending the newly elected Muslim mayor of New York City, Zohran Mamdani. Some have taken her response as equating a felon (which Donald Trump technically is, despite the outdated language) to a Muslim.
Then you should be completely unbothered

Another post appears to ask someone if they have Tourettes, a neuro-developmental disorder that causes tics, in response to them repeating a phrase against Donald Trump and also using the r-word, which is considered a slur.
Lol – you said retarded!

In response to these issues, not only has his mother been flamed, but Vernon and SEVENTEEN as well.
this is why Seventeen hasn't had a single hit in 10 years and is being overtaken by rookie groups https://t.co/0DlfJIVUC4 pic.twitter.com/ChP8f8YmcJ

However, some came to Vernon’s defense, remarking that he is not responsible for his parent’s views and does not necessarily share them.
i didnt wanna quote the account but i’ve had enough with everyone coming for vernon in the quotes my god. he is his own person who has shown how he is as a person. he literally lives in korea, doing his own thing and living his own life. leave him alone https://t.co/Vx7oIrrspk pic.twitter.com/xmwnWpFXim

I don’t understand why people are using this as a drag for Vernon and seventeen like most of us don’t have very conservative parents that we don’t agree with https://t.co/Yr5VZ8KQFz

okay but isn’t it kinda unfair to blame him for his mother’s political beliefs? she should be shamed yes but just because his mother believes something doesn’t mean he does? i don’t agree with some of my family’s views & i shame them for it! but i don’t believe or agree with them https://t.co/zO5dOWkoaE

Vernon’s Instagram has also been flooded with comments surrounding the issue, both criticism and support.
