Recently, a video posted on Super Junior Kyuhyun’s YouTube channel garnered much attention, as members gathered to discuss the past 20 years together.
In the video, Shindong, Heechul, and Eunhyuk appear as guests and speak honestly about their difficulties as the industry’s first large group.
Back in the day, the audio director of music shows was like a club DJ when we were on stage, continuously putting it up and down.

Eunhyuk added, “There was no waiting room where 12 people could fit together. When we were at the building in Mokdong, there were only three waiting rooms, and those were for the seniors.”
Being such a large group, they suffered hardships due to the lack of waiting rooms at broadcasting stations.
The rest of us had to figure out how to stay in our cars.

Shindong stated, “We couldn’t even park our cars in the parking lot because we were on buses.”
Eunhyuk also recalled the poor conditions during their debut days.
In the morning, we would sit on plastic chairs against one wall in a narrow hallway. When people would pass by, we would fold our knees. We would rent a bathroom and touch up our makeup there.

Shindong even confessed the shocking story of how he almost froze to death in the car.
I’ve always slept well in cars. When my mom put me in the car, I fell asleep quickly. Since I was always sleeping, the manager would wake me up and tell me to go to the dorms.

However, one time, he fell asleep in the car after finishing a schedule and woke up to the manager’s worried voice.
The manager shouted, ‘Are you okay?’ and woke me up. I asked him, ‘Why? Are you all here?’ and he said that I had slept for three hours in the van when the temperature was below zero. I almost froze to death.

To this, Eunhyuk corrected him, stating that it was longer than three hours.
We finished our schedule, went to the dorm, and then followed the schedule after resting there. Since it was a night schedule, we went to the van and found him sleeping there.

Kyuhyun added, “It must have been really cold because our parking lot was not underground but on the first floor.”
