While it is not unexpected for idols to balance their work-life schedules, it can be difficult to make time for even the most basic things.
This includes schooling, with many students having to work hard to graduate when debuting as a teenager.

Recently, netizens expressed their surprise to discover that many of a new group’s members were dropouts — from middle school.
Earlier this year, SM Entertainment announced its highly anticipated new girl group, Hearts2Hearts.

The members, aged 19 to 15, are at an age where they would be enrolled in high school. Like previous idols under the company, including NCT’s Mark Lee, many idols have technically worked while enrolled, even before an “official” debut.
It is not uncommon for idols to continue their schooling despite having debuted.

However, a viral post recently pointed out that several group members did not even start high school.
First, member Jiwoo, who is 18 years old, appears to have only been enrolled in Hanyoung Middle School, with it noted that she dropped out. Carmen, who is 19, attended SMA Kristen Harapan, a school that enrolled grades 10-12 before dropping out, though she got her GED through homeschooling at a later date.
In fact, out of all of the members, each one actually dropped out of middle school, except for Carmen and Stella, the latter of which dropped out of high school, rather than middle school.
While it is not known if the members have continued education after making their debut, many netizens were horrified to learn this information and demanded change.
- How can they make someone drop out when middle school is compulsory…
- It’s harmful…
- They should at least let them finish middle school…
- It’s a relief if they debuted, but it’s kind of messed up that even trainees who didn’t debut were made to drop out.
