On November 12, he was referred to the Seoul Central District Prosecutor’s Office by the Jungbu Police Station. He was booked in August on suspicion of violating the Act on the Punishment of Stalking Crimes for allegedly visiting the home of a woman he knew while carrying a weapon.

The police responded by applying for an emergency protective measure, prohibiting Choi from being within 100 meters of the victim anywhere or using any form of electronic communications to get in touch with her. The Seoul Central District Court approved this request on August 18, KST, two days after the alleged incidence.

Choi has consistently denied the allegations, claiming they are a misunderstanding. After the media reported the incident, he refuted the claims via his social media, labeling it a lover’s feud blown out of proportion.

The reported content was a personal conflict between my girlfriend and me, a minor argument that escalated into something of a mishap. I deeply regret that the situation was misunderstood due to heightened emotions, and that it was distorted and reported in a way that was not true.”

— Choi Jung Won

He also explicitly denied the claim of showing up at the victim’s house with a weapon.

The claim that I threatened or stalked her with a weapon is entirely false, and both my girlfriend and I clearly deny these allegations…We plan to take strong action against such false claims in the future.

— Choi Jung Won

This, however, isn’t Choi Jung Won’s first controversy. Previously, he faced allegations of an affair with a married woman, and was sued by the woman’s husband for ₩100 million KRW (about $71,800 USD)in December 2022. However, Choi denied the allegations and countersued the husband for defamation and intimidation.
