Choi Sooyoung Steps In as Kim Jae Young’s Protector in New Series “Idol Eye”

The upcoming Genie TV original drama Idol Eye has unveiled its main poster, hinting at an intriguing blend of mystery, courtroom tension, and unexpected romance between its leads, Choi Sooyoung and Kim Jae Young.

Directed by Lee Kwang-young and written by Kim Da-rin, the series will premiere on ENA at 10 p.m. on the 22nd.

Idol Eye follows Maeng Na (Choi Soo-young), a star lawyer known for her fierce determination and unrivaled professionalism. Behind her confident façade, however, lies a secret: she is a devoted fan of top idol Do Ra-ik (Kim Jae-young), a member of the popular group Gold Boys. When Ra-ik becomes the prime suspect in a murder case, Maeng Na steps in as his legal defender — all while trying to conceal her identity as his loyal “stan.”

The newly released poster captures their contrasting worlds. Maeng Na stands against a backdrop of cold legal documents and a stark landscape, symbolizing her long and difficult path to becoming a renowned lawyer. Ra-ik, meanwhile, is shown beneath dazzling stage lights with his signature “killer smile,” embodying the charm that has won over countless fans. The tagline, “My favorite with a killer smile becomes a murder suspect,” heightens curiosity around their unlikely connection.

Choi Soo-young expressed that the drama’s unique “fan–favorite” relationship sets it apart, noting that trust formed from admiration can be surprisingly deep. Kim Jae-young added that the series’ mix of mystery, courtroom drama, and romance will offer viewers layered emotions, from suspense to heart-fluttering moments.

Idol Eye promises a fresh approach to the mystery-romance genre as Maeng Na fights to prove Ra-ik’s innocence — and perhaps confront her own long-held feelings along the way.
