Actress Slammed With A Million Dollar Lawsuit After Being Caught “Dating”

Here’s what happened to that case.

In the latest episode of Channel A‘s Best Friends Tokyumentary: Table For Four, popular composer and TV star Joo Young Hoon revealed the shocking story of how he started dating his actress wife Lee Yoon Mi.

The two first met on an entertainment program. At the time, Lee Yoon Mi was preparing for a K-Drama role that required her to rap. According to Joo Young Hoon, Lee Yoon Mi’s manager was the one who approached Joo Young Hoon for some quick lessons on how to rap—and also the one to get him in trouble.

Her manager asked me to teach her some rap skills for a drama she was preparing for. We ended up meeting outside for the lesson, and I was so nervous.

Since it was her manager who asked to meet, I didn’t have Lee Yoon Mi’s number. But it was inconvenient to keep contacting her through the manager, so we naturally ended up exchanging numbers. Once we started contacting each other directly, her female manager got jealous and reported us to the agency.

The said manager ended up snapping a photo of Joo Young Hoon and Lee Yoon Mi meeting up without her and showing it to Lee Yoon Mi’s management CEO. Because of the strict “no dating” rule that the agency had, the photo quickly turned into a lawsuit of whopping ₩1.60 billion KRW (about $1.09 million USD).

Honestly, we did meet up secretly once. Her manager took a photo of us and showed it to the CEO. The agency had a strict ‘no dating’ rule, so they filed a lawsuit for ₩1.60 billion KRW (about $1.09 million USD) for violating it. They told Yoon Mi to pay up and leave the company.

But it turned out the manager actually played the matchmaker, as Joo Young Hoon and Lee Yoon Mi grew exponentially closer because of the lawsuit. And as for the case?

She was in her early 20s and didn’t know anything, and since this all happened because of me… I introduced her to a lawyer, met with her father, and as we worked through all the difficulties together, we grew close. Honestly, that’s how we ended up dating. In the end, the case was dropped, and everything was resolved.

Joo Young Hoon and Lee Yoon Mi got married in October 2006 and have three adorable daughters.
