Actress Caught Up In Rumors About Her Popular 10-Year-Old Series

An actress’s lawyer has released a statement to clarify rumors stemming from a series that aired ten years ago.

In 2015, the C-Drama series Diamond Lover became a hit show in China, racking up over 3.3 billion views online. The series starred K-Pop star Rain, Chinese actresses Tiffany Tang and Dilraba Dilmurat, and Chinese actor Luo Jin. Lead actress Tiffany Tang, who starred opposite Rain, played an aspiring jewelry designer who gains confidence after she undergoes a physical transformation.

Recently, executive producer Liu Yang shared a behind-the-scenes story about Diamond Lover to praise Dilmurat. According to the producer, the show’s lead actress, Tiffany Tang, arrived on set a month late, forcing production to start later than initially planned.

He said that because the lead actress was late, Dilmurat, who played one half of the show’s secondary couple, ended up taking on additional scenes. Diamond Lover gave the actress her first big break, and she went on to win the Audience’s Favorite Newcomer award at the 7th China TV Drama Awards for her performance.

Liu Yang’s story reportedly sparked heated discussions online, especially among Tang’s fans, and prompted Tang’s legal representatives to speak up. Her team claimed that Liu Yang’s remarks are defamatory and that Tang began filming Diamond Lover as scheduled, explaining that the production was aware of her schedule ahead of time. She would be arriving on set after she finished filming another series.
