“2025 MAMA Awards” Idol Choices For “KPop Demon Hunters” Covers Spark Intense Reactions

This year’s prestigious MAMA Awards ceremony is just around the corner! In fact, Mnet has already started revealing the special stages and collaborations that will be shown on November 28 and 29.

Some of these collaborations — like the most recently announced one between SM Entertainment groups NCT Wish and Hearts2Hearts — have already sparked negative reactions.

What really stands out this year is the special stages that will recreate scenes from the hit Netflix animated movie KPop Demon Hunters.

Earlier today, Mnet announced that there would be not one, but two KPop Demon Hunters collaborations.

One of the stages would be a cover of “Golden” performed by BABYMONSTER’s Pharita, Ahyeon, and Rora. In the movie, the mega-hit is performed by the fictional three-member girl group HUNTR/X.

The show will also include a performance of “I’ll Be Your Idol” performed in the movie by fictional boy group Saja Boys. During MAMA, the song will be a special collaboration featuring BOYNEXTDOOR’s Leehan, RIIZE’s Wonbin, TWS’ Shinyu, ZEROBASEONE’s Park Gun Wook, and Han Yu Jin.

As expected, these announcements have already drawn various reactions from netizens online.

Many feel that the BABYMONSTER members will do a great job tackling “GOLDEN”‘s demanding high notes and belting.

I’m happy for these fans, but I think it’s such a MISS on MAMA’s part to ignore that they have the 3rd and 4th gen acts in this year’s award show who were actually the inspiration for Saja Boys and Huntrix. That would’ve been so legendary. Imagine EXO and Stray Kids together.
