K-Pop boy group SEVENTEEN is known not only for their synchronized performances and tight-knit teamwork but also for their heartfelt bond offstage. One of the ways this bond is celebrated is through an annual birthday tradition that blends generosity, humor, and the group’s signature sense of camaraderie.
In a recent YouTube show, Naraeshik, member Joshua revealed how the group celebrates birthdays in style. According to him, when a member’s birthday comes around, the other 12 members each chip in ₩800,000 KRW (about $580 USD) for a birthday gift. That adds up to a whopping ₩9.60 million KRW (about $6,960 USD). The catch? The birthday celebrant chooses what they want, and if the gift goes over the pooled amount, they simply pay the difference themselves.
For us, we all send ₩800,000 KRW (about $580 USD) each, and we pay the remaining amount ourselves. So when birthdays roll around, we send the item we want in the group chat and say something like, ‘guys, thank you in advance. I’m going to buy this, and I’ll really use it well.’ Then we all send the money to them.
