Get ready for an electrifying new Korean spy thriller, “Tempest,” launching exclusively on Disney+ starting September 10.

This nine-part series, directed by Kim Heewon of “Queen of Tears” fame, boasts an impressive international cast, including the Disney+ debut of Gianna Jun.

“Tempest” plunges viewers into an international crisis on the Korean Peninsula when an assassination attempt rocks a presidential candidate’s campaign, a sprawling conspiracy unfolds, involving rogue nations, covert security agencies, and top-secret intelligence that threatens regional stability.

The story centers on Seo Munju (Gianna Jun), a brilliant former diplomat. As she investigates the assassination attempt and the shocking accusation that the candidate was a North Korean spy, Munju uncovers a web of deceit, state secrets, and hidden truths. Paik Sanho (Gang Dongwon), a mysterious mercenary with a powerful backer, protects Munju as she faces relentless attacks while unearthing a conspiracy that reaches all the way to the White House. The series explores whether Sanho can keep Munju safe and his own emotions in check as danger escalates.

The series is directed by Kim Heewon (“Queen of Tears,” “Vincenzo”) and co-directed by leading Korean martial arts director Heo Myeonghaeng (“THE ROUNDUP: PUNISHMENT,” “Badland Hunters”). The compelling script is penned by Chung Seokyung (“Decision to Leave,” “Little Women”). “Tempest” is produced by Imaginus in association with Showrunners, AA, and Skydance.

Tempest kicks off with a three-episode premiere on September 10, followed by two new episodes each week. The thrilling two-part finale is scheduled for October 1.

This gripping new drama joins a roster of world-class Korean series available on Disney+, including “Nine Puzzles,” “A Shop For Killers,” “Hyper Knife,” and “Moving.” Prepare to immerse yourself in a world of conspiracy, espionage, and political intrigue when “Tempest” arrives this September, exclusively on Disney+.
