A video taken at NCT WISH‘s recent fan meeting has sparked an intense debate among K-Pop fans. The video, shared via X (former Twitter), showed one fan interacting with Sakuya…

…when Sion, sitting next to Sakuya, leans in and asks the fellow member how to say something in Japanese.
Right when the fan is starting to say, “Last time…”, Sion asks, “How to you say ‘to count’ (or possibly ‘to be strong’) in Japanese?” As Sakuya hesitates to answer, the fan immediately takes offense and barks, “Why are you talking to him?” in a hostile tone.

The tweet itself also pointed out that it’s neither usual nor considerate for members to interact with one another during a fan meeting—especially given that these individual interactions are limited to a short amount of time and, therefore, fans naturally want every second to count.

Where did [Sion] learn such a*s manners—talking to the member next to him who’s in the middle of a one-on-one fan meeting?

On the other hand, as the tweet made its rounds across online communities like theqoo, the fan also received some backlash for acting out of line in front of the group members. With over 1.5K+ comments accumulating, the debate remains fierce between those who believe Sion did the fan wrong and those who believe the fan did the members wrong.

- “I think the fan’s being super exclusionary… Aren’t they showing way too much favoritism toward just one member?”
- “Spending hundreds just to have a 1–2 minute conversation isn’t really something people do with a normal mindset. If they’re overflowing with money and can spend millions, sure, whatever. But if they’re going by working part-time jobs, saving up, even taking out loans—and there are a lot of people like that in K-Pop—then it’s a different story.”
- “These interactions are limited to only about a minute, so it’s totally fair to be upset.”
- “Honestly, it’s probably not even a full minute…”
- “If someone cut me off like that during my turn, I’d definitely be annoyed. You wait so long for that chance and probably practice what you’re going to say over and over, and then something like that happens? I’d be mad too. And whether someone likes one member or two, that’s their right as a fan. Even if the fan stayed quiet in the moment and then later posted, ‘Someone talked to the member next to me and I lost my train of thought and messed up my moment,’ they’d still get hate for it. The outcome would be the same.”
- “I feel like this group’s fans are way too openly critical toward the members… But it’s almost always directed only at the Korean members.”
- “I saw the quoted tweet. Apparently that member has interrupted conversations with other fans multiple times before? It seems like it all just boiled over. Why would you butt in during someone else’s time?”
- “Why are you even talking amongst yourselves during a fansign?”
- “Didn’t fans usually like seeing members chatting and being friendly with each other? This whole thing feels kind of strange.”
- “This is a fansign that costs hundreds, and when they attend, they’re told ‘Okay, time’s up’ the moment it goes over a minute. Any interruptions like that would seriously piss anyone off.”
- “Even so, saying that to their face? Using words like ‘a*s manners’? Who’s really the one lacking manners here?”
- “That’s some intense power-tripping from the fan… It’s not even bullying. It’s just scary.”
- “Just from the video, the fan might come off as rude, but every second really does matter there. It’s not like it costs just a few bucks to go—people spend hundreds. So yeah, I get it.”
