[Review] THUNDER – CIX

Upon hearing that CIX was disbanding, I committed to writing reviews of their final title tracks that I had yet to review. Why? Well, CIX has some really good songs in their discography, and they were very much underrated on the KPOP scene. Some of my favourites that instantly come to my mind from over the years include Cinema and WAVE. Today, I am finally reviewing THUNDER, which was released as part of their THUNDER FEVER mini-album in January last year. THUNDER also served as their first release with former member BAE JINYOUNG, who departed the group in 2024. While I don’t remember my first impression of THUNDER, my current impression is that it is a super cool track. THUNDER features a really funky, groovy electro-pop instrumentation that is right up my alley for what I seek in a dynamic release. As the song progresses, you can feel the electrifying energy build, and the producers harness it to make the song sound even more robust, catchy, and powerful. THUNDER has a really cool, sparse instrumental break at the end that adds a slight sense of anticipation to the song. What also makes THUNDER so robust are the vocals.
