K-Pop legend BoA has officially canceled her upcoming solo concert due to a severe knee injury that requires immediate surgery, her agency SM Entertainment confirmed on July 15, 2025.
The veteran artist was scheduled to hold her fifth solo concert on August 30 and 31, 2025. However, she was recently diagnosed with acute osteonecrosis—a condition involving the death of bone tissue due to reduced blood flow—after experiencing worsening knee pain. Doctors advised BoA to avoid any physically demanding activities, including dancing and stage performances, and to undergo surgery without delay.
In an official statement, SM Entertainment asked for fans’ understanding.
“Hello, this is SM Entertainment.
We regret to inform you that BoA’s fifth solo concert has become difficult to proceed with due to health-related reasons. BoA was recently diagnosed with acute osteonecrosis requiring surgical treatment, following a hospital visit prompted by worsening knee pain. Based on the medical advice that she must avoid strenuous physical activity—including dancing and performance—to prevent the progression of the condition and undergo surgery as soon as possible, BoA has decided to proceed with surgery.
As a result, we must inevitably cancel BoA’s fifth solo concert, which was scheduled to take place on August 30–31. We sincerely apologize for the sudden and unfortunate news, and we ask for your kind understanding, as this decision was made with the artist’s health as our top priority. Additionally, as this year marks the meaningful occasion of BoA’s 25th debut anniversary, we will proceed with the release of her completed album as scheduled, without any changes to the timeline, in appreciation of the fans who have been waiting with anticipation. Information about a future concert will be announced based on BoA’s recovery following surgery.
SM Entertainment will do our utmost to support BoA’s treatment and recovery, with her health and safety as our foremost concern. Thank you.”
The cancellation comes during what was supposed to be a celebratory year for BoA, who marks her 25th anniversary since debuting in 2000. Despite the setback, SM Entertainment reassured fans that BoA’s commemorative album, already completedm will still be released on schedule.
Known as one of the pioneers of K-pop’s global expansion, BoA has remained a powerful and respected presence in the industry. Fans have flooded social media with messages of support, wishing her a speedy recovery and emphasizing that her health must come first.
