In a recent interview, Lee Jung revealed that she was the person behind the “Soda Pop” dance challenge, particularly the shoulder dance movement. However, it was an unexpected success, as she admittedly didn’t even think of including such a step in the song.

If you ask me how I created it, there really isn’t much to say. Sometimes instant decisions lead to mega hits. I didn’t even consciously think about the shoulder moves while choreographing, but everyone’s doing them now — it’s surreal.

— Lee Jung

While Lee has been credited for many popular K-Pop choreographies, her level of involvement in Kpop Demon Hunters was unprecedented. The dancer revealed that she had been working with the team of the movie for over three years to develop these dance routines.

I joined meetings when the characters like HUNTR/X and Saja Boys were still in sketch form. Whether the choreography would be fully visible on screen didn’t matter.

Apart from choreographing, Lee Jung also participated in the motion capturing for the two core characters, Rumi and Jinwoo, in the movie.

Lee Jung showed her utmost conviction in the movie’s success, saying she always knew that the movie would be successful. “I put everything into this because I believe sincerity always connects in art,”she added.
