It’s time for Kpopalypse roundup! Let’s take a look at some new releases! As predicted by yours truly, NewJeans are coming back for 2026! I suspect that watching the fans finding creative ways to ask for Danielle back will end up being more entertaining than any actual songs that come out of this, but who knows? Katseye – Animal Nothing all that interesting, a fairly safe comeback for Katseye. It’ll probably please the three people who wish the girls would sing a bit more, but it’s also a good demonstration of why the group largely haven’t bothered until now. Aespa – Kiss n Tell SM aren’t even attempting that Kwangya/virtual idol/AI bullshit for the Japanese market and it’s probably just as well because South Korea is the laughing stock of the rest of the world right now due to their creepy obsession with all things AI. But then what they’re doing here instead isn’t exactly much better, the song here is quite characterless and doesn’t really capitalise on any of the good parts of aespa.
