The “KPop Demon Hunters” soundtrack continues to gain steam in the United States!
On July 13 local time, Billboard announced that the soundtrack to Netflix’s hit animated film “KPop Demon Hunters” had climbed to a new peak of No. 2 in its third week on the Billboard 200, which ranks the most popular albums in the United States.
“Kpop Demon Hunters” is only the fourth soundtrack to reach the top 2 of the Billboard 200 this decade, following “Wicked” (which debuted and peaked at No. 2 in 2024), “Barbie” (which debuted and peaked at No. 2 in 2023), and “Encanto” (which hit No. 1 in 2022).
According to Luminate (formerly Nielsen Music), the “KPop Demon Hunters” soundtrack earned a total of 75,000 equivalent album units during the week ending on July 10, doubling its record from last week. The album’s total score consisted of 4,000 traditional album sales (based solely on digital downloads, as no physical version of the album has yet been released) and 70,000 streaming equivalent album (SEA) units, which translates to 96.33 million on-demand audio streams over the course of the week. The album also racked up 1,000 track equivalent album (TEA) units in its third week.
Notably, with its 96.33 million streams from this week alone, “KPop Demon Hunters” has achieved the biggest streaming week for a soundtrack in over three years. The last soundtrack to amass more streams in a single week was Disney’s “Encanto,” which recorded 101.16 million streams in one week back in March 2022.
Congratulations to the cast and crew of “KPop Demon Hunters”!
