A K-Pop idol has apologized after stirring controversy by leaving a farewell letter using artificial intelligence (AI) upon departing from her agency.

Earlier on September 17th, WJSN (also known as Cosmic Girls) member Seola announced her departure from Starship Entertainment after 15 years since her debut and shared a long handwritten letter.

However, many typos such as “엔터테인면(먼)트” and “배윰(움)” were found in the letter, raising criticism that it might have been written using AI and accusing her of insincerity.

Ultimately, Seola deleted the post, reposted what appeared to be the genuine handwritten letter, and issued an apology to quell the controversy.

On September 18th, Seola posted on her Instagram, “I thought posting a clearer version would be easier to read because my handwritten letter was uneven and hard to read, but I realize now that was thoughtless.

She added, “I will be more careful about everything from now on. I am sorry,” bowing her head.
