NCT DREAM is entering a bold new era — one packed with powerful performance, retro-futuristic flair, and a narrative that bridges the past and the future.

At a press conference held on July 14 at Lotte Cinema World Tower in Seoul, the group introduced their 5th full-length album, Go Back To The Future, and its dual title tracks, promising an era-defining transformation.

Headlining the comeback is “BTTF”, the group’s very first SMP (SM Performance) title track since debut. Packed with heavy synth bass, layered rhythms, and sci-fi vibes, the song tells the story of time-traveling to discover the brightest version of oneself — a metaphor for growth, self-reflection, and evolution. “This track captures the album’s concept perfectly,” Jeno shared. “It’s about rewinding time to meet the most radiant version of who we are.”

Renjun added, “The message is empowering — it’s the belief that we’ll keep shining in the future,” while Jisung teased, “It’s a full-on SMP hip-hop track. It’s been a while since we’ve gone this hard.”

NCT DREAM doesn’t stop there. The second title track CHILLER adds a playful, experimental twist with surprising structure and bright synth textures. “It shows off our fun and carefree side,” said Chenle, while Jaemin chimed in, “It really captures DREAM’s unique color.” Jeno also highlighted Lee Jung’s choreography for the song, especially the standout locking section.

Mark praised the sonic cohesion of both songs, crediting hitmaker Kenzie: “She nailed the challenge of making two very different songs connect. Huge shout-out to her.” Renjun revealed, “I heard Kenzie cried during our concert — that’s how emotionally invested she was in this project.”

In true NCT DREAM fashion, the group added their signature layers of storytelling. Jisung revealed that the “BTTF” music video pays homage to the film Back to the Future, and even got official approval from the creators. “I thought referencing iconic devices from the movie would deepen our storyline,” he said. Jaemin also added a nostalgic touch by rewearing his “Chewing Gum” debut pajamas for the video, delighting longtime fans.

Choosing double title tracks wasn’t planned, but it felt right. “We usually debate a lot about the title song,” said Chenle. “This time, both tracks were too good. Plus, the stories connected so naturally that we went with both.

Why go with time travel as a theme? Mark explained, “Our story as DREAM has always been rich — and now, nearing our 10th year, it felt like the perfect moment to reflect and look ahead. The hoverboards, the throwback outfits, the futuristic touches — all of it tells a story about growth, passion, and staying true to who we are.”

The group’s humor and camaraderie were in full force. Renjun confidently declared, “I believe in this album as much as the sky believes in the earth,” while Mark joked, “I believe in it as much as Jeno’s muscles.” Haechan added, “Even though it’s our 9th year, we approached this album like it was our debut.

Looking back on meaningful moments, Jeno and Renjun recalled their group camping trip before the album’s release. “It was when our hearts became one,” Jeno said warmly. Haechan reflected on the evolution of their goals: “We used to think being flashy was everything, but now we know our strength is giving people comfort and energy. That’s real growth.”

Mark also explained their confidence in embracing SMP’s intensity: “There was a moment when we just said, ‘Let’s do it.’ It felt like the right time to fully embrace this side of ourselves.”

With 12 shows at Gocheok Sky Dome under their belt — a record — Jaemin gave a heartfelt nod to their fans. “It’s all thanks to Season 2, who fill the venue every time. I hope everyone who watches us live or online feels that it was worth it.” As for their dream venue? “Anywhere closer to fans,” Haechan said. “Though performing in an overseas stadium would be incredible.” Chenle added, “There’s something magical about seeing the moon during an outdoor stadium show.”

As for goals? Haechan said it best: “It’s not about numbers — it’s about impact. I just hope this world we created is felt by everyone who listens.

Go Back To The Future officially dropped on July 14 at 6 PM KST across all global streaming platforms. Buckle up — NCT DREAM is taking us on a time-bending ride like never before.
