Recently, G-Dragon performed at the LA festival Head In The Clouds 2025.

G-Dragon definitely stole the show, but one of his song choices sparked major backlash. During the set, a video was shared of the idol singing Kendrick Lamar‘s song “Not Like Us.”

Netizens hit back at the decision to sing the song, saying that it went against the purpose of the lyrics. Referring to past examples of cultural appropriation surrounding G-Dragon and BIGBANG, netizens explained that the song was about people who appropriate culture and wasn’t appropriate for the idol to sing,

Not him thinking the song wasn’t about pple like him 😫😫😫😫

Singing Not Like Us when his whole idol group career has been black aesthetics. benefits from and appropriates Black culture without fully understanding the experiences and struggles. https://t.co/tkO23FGC2D pic.twitter.com/jFoWV25bre
