Father Murders His Entire Family, Unthinkable Truth Sparks Fury

The deaths of three family members, including high school brothers, who were found dead in a car salvaged from the Jindo Port in Jeollanam-do, appeared to have been a planned murder.

It was revealed that the brothers asked about the “experimental learning program outside of school” early last week, but did not apply due to an upcoming exam.

The family reportedly went on a trip after school on Friday, which did not need school approval. The police are looking to charge the father with murder after he survived by escaping alone after crashing the vehicle into the ocean.

According to a report by the Kyunghyang newspaper on June 3, two teenagers and a 40-year-old woman were found dead in a car that was pulled out of the Jindo Port.

The family from Gwangju was said to have gone on a “family trip” and reportedly asked the school about the off-campus experimental learning program.

However, considering the mock exam for seniors was right around the corner, they did not apply to the program, considering the teacher’s advice. Instead, the family, including the father (49), went on a family trip.

After school, the family went on a trip on May 30, and photos taken at the beach were posted on the brother’s social media. However, when the brothers did not show up for school on Monday, the school reported it to the police after finding their house to be empty.

Police who tracked the family confirmed that on the afternoon of June 1, the family’s cell phone signal was cut off around 1:12 PM KST. CCTV footage revealed a car carrying a family had crashed into the ocean.

The Coast Guard found three people dead in the sea about 30 meters away from the Jindo Port, but the father was not in the car.

It is understood that the father drove the car into the sea, escaped through the open window, and called an acquaintance to return to Gwangju. The police arrested the father and the acquaintance at around 9:09 PM on June 2.

The father admitted his actions to the police.

The police are currently investigating the father on suspicion of murder. They are also finding it difficult to rule out the possibility of the crime being planned in advance, as he had his son look into off-campus experimental learning and prepared sleeping pills.

The police will conduct an autopsy of the bodies to determine the cause of death.
