ENHYPEN fan’s tragic death on livestream puts a face to deeper fandom issues and behavior

A Japanese TikTok influencer, and notably an ENHYPEN fan, took her own life on a live broadcast recently. Police received a report at around 5:33 AM saying that a Japanese woman in her 20s harmed herself in an officetel and authorities have confirmed her death (a friend also confirmed). Unfortunately, the circumstances around the tragedy has led to wider debate on fandom culture, idol interactions, and cyberbullying. Basically, the individual in question was a fan influencer, which leads to people within the fandom inevitably having mixed feelings no matter what one does. There was some controversy about her being attention-seeking at concerts and being parasocial to get the attention of members. It was stuff to that effect, which I only point out to say it was basically nothing that seems too crazy or dangerous in terms of K-pop fandom, but I guess enough incidents built up and at one point she faced a ton of backlash due to an interaction involving Ni-Ki and Sunoo.
