It was revealed that Jin’s appearance at Incheon Airport on September 21 was the idol’s departure for Milan Fashion Week to attend the Gucci show.

While BTS has had awful and dangerous experiences at the airport, when Jin arrived in Milan he was met with the “Purple Ribbon” project which was created in 2018, using purple ribbons to protect BTS by keeping fans in certain areas so they aren’t mobbed.

Netizens praised that Jin’s personal space was being respected.

It's the way everyone respects Jin sooo much. No mobbing. No chasing after him. Pure respect and adoration only. He was so happy seeing those purple ribbons. 🩵🫶

Yet, while many fans praised the project being brought back, some hit back that it shouldn’t have been necessary if ARMYs just stayed at home. In particular, HYBE has shared guidance about not attending private schedules of the members, including at the airport, so many thought it was just performative and if they wanted to protect the members, they wouldn’t have gone at all.

you DON’T NEED to make ribbon project if you DON’T GO to the airport, it’s THAT simple

The Purple Ribbon Project was a beautiful thing but it ended for a reason. We should not be trying to recreate it.
Instead, we should be staying at home.
There is absolutely no reason for you to be at the airport. What makes you think that the first thing the members want to+

Puzzled at the airport videos I'm seeing praising a ribbon project. The people holding the ribbon are holding phones with their other hand, so they're holding the ribbon against themselves? That's what we should praise for Jin's protection? Foxes guarding the hen house??? pic.twitter.com/b1ynNNxekz

"they put him in danger, but look, they brought ribbons 🥺" let's normalised shaming people for showing up at the airport instead of praising them for the bare minimum. the bar is in heII

The purple ribbon project was created to protect BTS, but many think that has to be done by listening to the rules and regulations put in place.
