Recently, media outlets reported that a new lawsuit claimed that BTS’s song, “Swim,” stole parts from an “unpublished demo by three little-known songwriters.”

A case filed on July 8 was reported by Steve Cooper, Jon Sandler, and Greylyn Johnson, who claim the hit track had similarities to their own song.
They claimed that “upon listening several times, they came to what they considered to be the obvious and inescapable conclusion that it copied a large part of the original work.”

Although the lawsuit doesn’t specifically name BTS, it does name HYBE and the songwriters behind the hit track.
They claimed that they sent out copies of their demo in March 2025, which was shared with others, including the writers who worked on “Swim.”
However, fans found it odd that they waited months before filing a lawsuit.
