Mnet’s newest survival show Boys II Planet is already under heavy fire—and this time, it’s not for editing.

Netizens are calling out the show’s judges for allegedly fatshaming several contestants during evaluations. In one recently aired episode, viewers noticed that the panel repeatedly made remarks about trainees’ weight and visuals, prompting immediate backlash online. Jaejoong made a comment about their visuals and skills.

this is so insane and disgusting wdym you prevent them from all stars because of their visuals?? and proceeds to fatshame them? pic.twitter.com/EoAQ5tFnMv

I felt your [old] age through both your performance and your visuals. I think that this should not be the case.

Baek Gu Young also agreed, claiming that their performance would be better if their physiques were improved.

You guys are dancing, and I thought your [old] age showed in your [lack of] power and stuff… I thought that your performance would be way better if your were able to tidy up your physique a little.

Clips from the episode quickly went viral, with fans and casual viewers alike slamming the judges for pushing outdated beauty standards and humiliating participants on national TV.

Others commented on the hosts’ alleged hypocrisy given their own ages.

Just cancel the whole show and extend zb1’s contract under another company and fire the host acting like theyre so cute and talented i want to see u up on stage and perform like them with ur unc ass ankles https://t.co/idh8NiLiKj pic.twitter.com/45czVQw3DA

Meanwhile, others have been defending the comments. They claimed that the judges did not outright call the boys fat. In fact, comments relating weight or physique to dance skills are common, as it is believed that being lighter and more fit gives one more agility and power.
