After BLACKPINK Jisoo‘s legal team released their statement distancing her from her brother Kim Jung Hun‘s sexual assault case, Korean netizens had a lot to say.

The statement went viral on TheQoo, and reactions were far from one-sided.
Some felt the response was fair given that Jisoo appears to have had no involvement. Others, however, thought that maybe the statement should’ve expressed more regret at the situation, given the family ties. Some even claimed they find no reason why people should feel sorry for the BLACKPINK star.
| TheQoo- “Seems like there are a lot of people looking for a celebrity to take their stress out on since it’s Monday. Hang in there.”
- “But even if she has absolutely zero involvement, her brother may have committed abuse, and there are victims. Is this really the right first response? Shouldn’t the first move at least be a statement saying she had no knowledge of it, that she finds it regrettable, and that she has no connection to it whatsoever?”
- “Why are people feeling sorry for Jisoo? And why were they cursing out Han Hyo Joo?”
- “If she’s already cut ties with him, that’s enough, just direct the hate at the perpetrator.”
- “Unbelievable”
- “Wow”
- “I’m not even a fan, but is she covering for her brother like Han [Hyo Joo] did?… I genuinely don’t understand why she deserves to be getting this much hate…”
Many feel that if Jisoo truly has no ties to her brother, the hate directed at her is misplaced. But others think a purely legal statement was the wrong first move. What are your thoughts? Let us know in the comments section of our social media post.
