Actress Kang Seo-ha Tragically Dies at 31; Cause of Death Revealed

South Korean actress Kang Seo-ha passed away on July 14, 2025, after a prolonged battle with cancer.

Kang Seo-ha's death was confirmed by her representatives and family members, who revealed that her health had rapidly deteriorated during her second round of chemotherapy treatment. The actress had been fighting advanced cancer while trying to maintain her professional commitments until her final days.

Born on June 13, 1994, Kang Seo-ha, real name Kang Ye Won, graduated from the Korea National University of Arts' School of Drama and began her entertainment career in 2012 by appearing in a music video for the group Brave Guys. She officially debuted as an actress in the 2014 JTBC drama "Seonam Girls High School Investigators" and went on to build a steady career in the industry.

Throughout her career, Kang Seo-ha appeared in numerous popular television dramas, including "Assembly," "The Flower in Prison," "First Love Again," "Through the Waves," "Heart Surgeons," and "Nobody Knows." Her performances were praised for being emotionally grounded and authentic, earning her recognition as a dedicated character actress.

Despite her declining health, Kang Seo-ha continued working until recently, having just completed filming the lead role in the upcoming movie "In the Net" alongside Kim Seon-ho and Park Gyu-young. The film is expected to be her final work and will serve as a posthumous release.

Friends and colleagues remembered Kang Seo-ha for her warm personality and selfless nature, even during her illness. A heartfelt memorial message posted on her social media account revealed how she continued to worry about others and insisted on paying for meals despite her inability to eat properly for months. The message described her as "my angel who left us far too soon" and expressed gratitude for her caring spirit even while enduring immense pain.

In 2023, Kang Seo-ha had signed with Insight MCN, a talent agency formed by Insight Entertainment and Showtime Crew, marking what was intended to be a fresh chapter in her career. The move demonstrated her ongoing commitment to expanding her artistic activities across multiple fields.

The actress's memorial service was held at Room 8 of the funeral hall at Seoul St. Mary's Hospital, with her funeral procession scheduled for 7:40 AM on July 16. Following the ceremony, she was laid to rest at her family's burial site in Haman, South Gyeongsang Province.
