LAPILLUS‘s Yue recently shared her advice that helped her pass her audition to become a K-Pop idol. Check out all of her tips below!

1. Pick a song for your audition that you’re confident you can sing.

Don’t go for a song with really high or low notes if you can’t sing them well. Pick a song you can nail to the best of your ability to show off your vocal tone.

2. Build up portfolio with auditions and performances.

The more experience you have heading into an audition, the more confident you will feel.

3. Ditch the fancy clothes and wear something comfortable.

Yue suggests wearing sweatpants or leggings. They don’t care about your fashion, only your skills.

4. Wear minimal makeup or a basic, light makeup look.

This way, they can see what you really look like and one day style you as they see fit.

5. Practice in front of a camera often.

This will help you get used to the process and allow you to show off your abilities without getting nervous.

6. Be polite and respectful to everyone.

Both the judges and the staff will notice your behavior, so always make sure to be kind.

7. Be prepared to change your hairstyle on the fly.

Yue revealed that she was asked to let her hair down from a ponytail, so be ready to do any changes they ask for.

8. Don’t stress!

Instead, think of the audition as experience to help build up your portfolio. There are plenty of other companies out there!
